ASCII Code Information

Everyone knows how to type the letter "A" into a text document because the "A" key is visible on the keyboard.

But how do you type a © copyright symbol, a • bullet, or a ½ fraction?

To display a special character (a character that does not have it's own key on the keyboard), you need to press and hold the ALT key then enter an ASCII character number using the numeric keypad (located on the right side of the keyboard).

For example, to display the • bullet character you press and hold the ALT key then type 0149 on the numeric keypad.

To display in a text file (any word processor document) one of the font characters from the tables below hold down the ALT key and enter the ASCII character number using the numeric keypad on your keyboard.

TIP - if the character you're expecting does not appear try adding a zero to the beginning of the code.   Example: Enter ALT + 0169 instead of ALT + 169.

Certain fonts may not contain special characters. Entering an ASCII character number will not produce any results.
